Our honest take

Garmin built the market for serious GPS sports watches and still leads in maps and ecosystem. The Suunto 9 Peak Pro is the closest European match: longer battery (170hr vs 57hr GPS), lighter, Finnish-made since 1936, and titanium/sapphire materials at roughly the same price. The honest trade-off is maps: Garmin has a richer navigation library. For running and triathlon, Polar Vantage V3 has better heart rate accuracy than both.
